If you are an expat with a dog living in Amsterdam, chances are you will know who Karolina and Lou are. You might not have met them in person but they are part of a 10k-strong and very helpful online community, that is helping expats navigate their life with a dog in a new city. That's how I came to know them. So when Karolina asked me whether I would take photos of Lou I said "yes" immediately. I couldn't wait to meet them both - from what I could tell through their stories online, I knew they both had a very strong and special bond which I couldn't wait to capture. Because Lou is not normally a city dog and can be a little dog reactive, I chose a few quieter streets around Amsterdam city center - we came across some lovely stairs, gates and corners and were even graced with the most amazing evening sun in one instance. I couldn't have asked for a better result - thank you Karolina & Lou for trusting me with your photos that you will hopefully cherish for a long, long time to come.
